It's MY Turn on the WOOL Blog Hop & a GIVEAWAY!!

I sure hope everyone has enjoyed themselves all week long.  I've seen some UBER talented gals out there who have come up w/some really cool ideas for using WOOL.  Once again, I want to give a big thank you to Denise from Quilted Brain for organizing this blog hop!

Here's a few things that I finished earlier this week made especially for this hop.  I have been wanting to make up these guys for some time now and this blog hop helped motivate me to get cranking.  Those of you who know me, know that I love to create w/a variety of different things, namely WOOL applique, cross stitch and sewing/quilting. For those who don't know me that well, I used to have my very own shop yrs. ago, but now I have an Etsy shop where I sell needlecraft supplies for those same things I love to create with.  I decided to use a pattern I had from 'Simply Unique' called 'Owl Trio'.  (and yes, you can find a couple of these patterns listed in my Etsy shop if you want to make them yourself).  I used mostly a buttonhole stitch and what I like to call a 'prim' stitch.
 Please meet..........Ollie
 Oscar...........
 and Opie..........
I love using overdyed wools the best.  They are my favorite.  I've made quite a few things over the last few yrs., mostly candle mats, table runners, and pillows.   I absolutely LOVE working w/wool!  It is such a wonderful fabric to stitch on.

And now for the GIVE~AWAY, I decided to design a little candle mat for you.  (I hope you can tell they are pumpkins and acorns) tee hee.  Totally NOT perfect, just primitive!
You can turn it any way you like.........

Here's what it looks like w/a candle in the center........(but that's not included in the give~away)!
How can you get in on this........???
*Well, all you have to do is be a follower of my blog and state that you'd like to enter in your comment, that way I'll know for sure. (New followers are more than welcome, please click on to join in)!   That's it ~ easy peasy!!!  (please leave me some way to contact you if you don't have a blog).

**Oh, and for another TWO more entries ~ if you buy something from my ETSY shop(from now till next FRI. Oct. 4th ~ midnight EST), in ANY $$ amount, I will enter your name 2 more times.  To top it off, I am having a 15% off SALE on everything in my shop as well!!  You will need to use the coupon code WOOLBLOGHOP13 - (no spaces or it won't work).  The GIVE~AWAY will end on the same day at the same time. (oh, and did I mention that I usually put a discounted price on most of my items in my shop as the everyday price)??

Please go visit all the other gals on today's list as this is the very last day of the hop!  I hope you've enjoyed seeing all the wooly goodness that lurks in blogland around the globe!  Thanks for stopping by!

Signs of Fall

I've been trying to do a little bit of fall decorating, but I'm not finished w/it yet.  Here are some things I put on our front porch so far.  I made this owl out of 100% wool a couple of yrs. ago to use as a pin cushion.  He has a weighted bottom so he stands up better and usually sits in the corner of my sewing counter.  I snatched him off of there so he could enjoy the fresh outdoors for awhile, ha.

This is a Deco Mesh wreath that a friend from church made for us as a thank you for letting her family borrow our camper this summer.  It is actually way bigger in person than it looks here.  I thought she did a beautiful job on it.  (you should have seen the looks of envy when she handed it to me after church was over and I carried it out the door) :))
Her mom was the one who actually made it for her to give to us and she is giving a demo at our church tomorrow night during 'Crafters Night Out'.  I am helping w/getting a group started and it's been a lot of fun so far.  We thought maybe we'd do a demo each month on a different craft/hobby, then work on a project of our own, and of course there will be snacks!!  Can't have a craft nite w/out snacks, now can we?

I want to add some pumpkins and maybe a few more things to the place mat when I can 'dig' them out of storage later.  I have tons of fall decor to dig through, so it may take me awhile.

Next week I want to invite all of you WOOL lovers out there to a blog hop that I am participating in.  I will be back in a few days w/a list of blogs you'll want to visit each day.  I am scheduled for Friday the 27th, and I plan on having a give~away as well and I'm sure there will be others who will be doing that too.  You won't want to miss this talented group of wooly lovers!! "))

Check back soon and I will have more details for you in a few days.  As always, thanks for stopping by!

Getting in the mood for FALL!!

Hey ya'll, it's starting to feel like fall!!  Ok, so I'm a bit stir crazy these days, but I just had to show you  my cute little 'Hootie' owl ~ isn't he cute??  No, I did not intend to make him cross-eyed, it just so happened that the wool had a little 'give' in it and as I stitched around the white part, it decided to 'move' just a bit.  Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it, ha!
If you want to see a whole family of them, just hop on over to my good friend Wendy's blog(the Quiet Room) where she shares a mama, papa and baby owl (that she just made recently from the same pattern).  I told her they were my owl's English cousins from across the ocean.  :))
I found this tea-dyed table runner recently at a nearby prim shop and couldn't stop thinking of all the different ways I want to decorate w/it.  I'd like to do some wool applique on it OR maybe even some cross stitch.  It looks a bit like Monk's cloth, w/the holes, etc.  Would be easy to stitch on.  Something fallish is what I'm dreaming of.........
And last but not least, another book review.  This is sent to me free of charge in exchange for an honest review.

'Angels in the Fire' is one of the most exciting non-fiction books I've ever read in my entire life!!  It is a fascinating TRUE life story about a couple who had only been married a few yrs. when they were involved in a horrendous car crash involving a drunk driver.  Their car caught on fire, and just when everyone thought that his wife would not be able to be freed before burning to death, several people witnessed an 'angel' dashing to their rescue.  Their story of survival and physical progress after the crash is absolutely phenomenal!   I read the whole book in just one evening as I could not put it down.   It's a story filled w/faith, hope and trust and seeking wholeness and a new way of life after the crash.  Their lives were literally turned completely around that night, but God sent his angels to rescue or reassure them many times at various points throughout their lives.  It is truly an amazing story that you won't soon forget!!  I highly recommend this book!!
That's all I've got for now folks...............
Happy Fall, Ya'll
